SERVICE.
It starts with our Case Coordinators, who are available by phone and email to answer any questions you have about the mediation process. Our service continues throughout the process. The Case Coordinators work with you on scheduling and administrative issues. A team of two mediators works on each case, providing balance and adding perspective.

EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE.
Our professionally trained mediators come from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. Because we draw from roster of more than 70 experienced mediators, we can ensure that the people you are working with have the appropriate knowledge and experience to help you with the issues you need to resolve.

CONVENIENCE.
Mediation sessions can be scheduled during either daytime or evening hours, whichever is more convenient for you. Our office is easy to get to. It is located in in East Cambridge, near the Galleria Mall and the Green Line’s Lechmere station. Parking is available on-site in the evening, and available near-by during the day.

AFFORDABILITY.
The cost of our services varies, depending on your income level. We use a sliding fee scale, which supports our goal of making conflict resolution services available to all members of the community.

How Mediation Works

Mediation is a process where people with differing views sit down with an impartial third party to discuss issues they need help resolving. The mediator guides and facilitates conversation, helping people to sort out their needs and interests. With the help of the mediator, the people involved generate different options to meet those needs. Together, they arrive at workable solutions. The mediator does not act as a judge, does not make decisions or impose solutions. All decisions come from the people involved.

The mediation process is voluntary, and completely confidential. Your privacy is respected throughout. Mediators will not share anything you tell them, either with family members or other people or agencies, unless you specifically ask them to.

Mediation sessions usually last 2-3 hours. Sometimes issues can be resolved in a single session; sometimes additional sessions are needed.

Mediation is a win-win process. It allows everyone involved to hear and understand each other. Mediated agreements are mutually satisfying, reflecting the input of all parties. Most important, people use mediation because it is effective. Between 75% and 90% of people who choose to mediate reach resolution.
